Prevention and treatment of endemic goiter, pre-operative preparation for hyperthyroidism and hyperthyroidism crisis.
Usage and dosage:
Oral administration:
1. Prevention of endemic goiter: The dose depends on the local iodine deficiency situation, generally 100μg/ day.
2. Treatment of endemic goiter: early patients are given 1 to 10mg/ day for 1 to 3 months, with rest for 30 to 40 days in between. After about 1 to 2 months, the dose can be gradually increased to 20 to 25mg/ day, and the total course of treatment is about 3 to 6 months.
Matters needing attention:
1. Allergy to iodide should be contraindicated.
2. The use of iodine in infants and young children is easy to cause rash, affect thyroid function, and should be prohibited.
3. Use with caution in patients with oral diseases. Concentrated iodine can cause swelling and tenderness of salivary glands, burning sensation and metallic taste in mouth and throat, pain in teeth and gums, and increased salivation.
4. Use with caution in patients with acute bronchitis, tuberculosis, hyperkalemia, hyperthyroidism and impaired renal function.
5. The use of this product can affect thyroid function, or affect the determination of thyroid iodine uptake rate and thyroid nuclide scan imaging results, these tests should be scheduled before the use of this product.
1. Iodide can cross the placenta, cause fetal thyroid dysfunction and/or goiter, and should not be used in pregnant women.
2. Iodide can be secreted into the milk, breastfeeding is easy to cause infant rash, thyroid function is inhibited, so women should be disabled or suspended breastfeeding during breastfeeding.
1. Allergic reactions, not very common. Angioedema may occur immediately after taking the drug, or several hours later, as edema of the upper extremities, lower extremities, face, lips, tongue, or larynx. Erythema or wind, fever, and discomfort may also occur.
2. Joint pain, eosinophilia, and lymph node enlargement are uncommon.
3. If taken for a long time, iodine poisoning symptoms such as burning sensation in the mouth and throat, salivation, metallic taste, gum pain, stomach discomfort and severe headache can occur. Hyperkalemia may also occur, characterized by confusion, arrhythmia, numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, and heavy weakness in the lower limbs.
4. Gastrointestinal adverse reactions such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and stomach pain are uncommon.
5. Periarteritis, leukemioid eosinophilia, rare.
