Composition:

Description:
Cyproterone Acetate is a synthetic anti-androgen with progestogenic activity, used primarily to treat conditions related to excess androgen levels and hormone-dependent cancers. It works by blocking androgen receptors and reducing production, making it effective in various hormonal disorders.
Indications:
- Prostate Cancer - Treatment of advanced or metastatic prostate cancer
- Severe Androgenization in Women - Management of hirsutism, acne, and androgenic alopecia in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- Hypersexuality & Sexual Deviations - In men for hormonal therapy to reduce libido
- Suppression of Production - As part of hormonal therapy for transgender women (Male-to-Female transition)
Dosage & Administration:
For Oral Use
Prostate Cancer:
- Usual dose: 200-300 mg daily, divided into 2-3 doses
- Combination with LHRH agonists: 50-100 mg twice daily
- Prevention of tumor flare-up: 100 mg twice daily for 5-7 days before starting LHRH therapy
Severe Androgenization in Women (Hirsutism, Acne, PCOS):
- Initial dose: 50-100 mg daily
- Usually combined with estrogen therapy (e.g., Ethinyl Estradiol)
Hypersexuality & Sexual Deviations in Men:
- Initial dose: 100-300 mg per day in divided doses
- Maintenance dose: Adjusted based on individual response
Suppression in Transgender Women:
- Recommended dose: 25-100 mg daily, depending on individual needs
- Usually combined with estrogen therapy
Administration Instructions:
- Take after meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects
- Do not stop abruptly without consulting a doctor
Contraindications:
- Liver disease or hepatic impairment
- History of meningioma
- Severe depression or history of mental illness
- Thromboembolic disorders (e.g., deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism)
- Pregnancy & lactation
Warnings & Precautions:
- Hepatotoxicity Risk - Regular liver function monitoring is required
- Risk of Blood Clots - Increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE)
- May Cause Fatigue & Mood Changes - Monitor for depression or mood swings
- Diabetes Precautions - May affect glucose metabolism
Adverse Reactions:
