Fat Emulsion, Amino Acids (17), and Glucose (11%) Injection 1440ml

Composition:

Each 1440ml contains:

  • Fat Emulsion: (Soybean oil, Medium-chain triglycerides, Olive oil, Fish oil)
  • Amino Acids (17 types): Essential and non-essential amino acids
  • Glucose (11%)
  • Electrolytes (varies by formulation)

Description:

This is a three-in-one parenteral nutrition (PN) solution containing lipids, amino acids, and carbohydrates for intravenous administration. It provides essential nutrients for patients who cannot receive adequate nutrition orally or enterally.

Indications:

  • Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) in patients with malnutrition or severe catabolic states
  • Post-surgical recovery where enteral feeding is not possible
  • Critical illness requiring prolonged nutritional support
  • Gastrointestinal disorders (e.g., short bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease)

Dosage & Administration:

Intravenous Infusion Only

  • Adult Dose: Based on patient's caloric, protein, and lipid requirements
  • Infusion rate: Should not exceed 0.1g/kg/hr of lipids and 5mg/kg/min of glucose
  • Duration: Continuous infusion over 12-24 hours
  • Use a central or peripheral vein depending on osmolality

Contraindications:

  • Severe liver or renal dysfunction
  • Acute metabolic disorders (e.g., uncontrolled diabetes, hyperlipidemia)
  • Known hypersensitivity to soy, fish oil, egg phospholipids, or amino acids
  • Severe sepsis or hemodynamic instability

Precautions:

  • Monitor triglycerides, liver function, and blood glucose regularly
  • Avoid rapid infusion to prevent metabolic complications
  • Use caution in patients with electrolyte imbalances or fluid overload

Adverse Reactions:

  • Common: Hyperglycemia, nausea, vomiting, infusion site reactions
  • Serious: Hypertriglyceridemia, liver dysfunction, fat overload syndrome, anaphylaxis

Drug Interactions:

  • May interfere with anticoagulants (e.g., heparin)
  • Caution with insulin therapy due to glucose content

Overdose & Management:

  • Symptoms: Hyperglycemia, metabolic acidosis, fat overload syndrome
  • Treatment: Slow infusion, electrolyte correction, insulin if necessary

Storage Conditions:

  • Store below 25°C, avoid freezing
  • Use within 24 hours after opening
