The effective dose is usually 15 to 45mg daily. The initial therapeutic dose should be 15mg or 30mg. This product takes effect after one to two weeks of use. When taken in moderation, results should be seen within two to four weeks. If the effect is not significant, the dose can be increased to the maximum dose. However, if there is no effect after two to four weeks of increased dose, the drug should be discontinued.
Precautions:
Adults and children with depression, whether or not they are taking antidepressants, are at risk of worsening their depression and of developing suicidal ideation and behavior, as well as behavioral changes, until significant remission occurs. Depression and certain mental disorders are known to be associated with suicide risk, and these mental disorders are themselves the strongest predictors of suicide. However, there have long been concerns that antidepressants may play a role in inducing worsening depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation and behavior in some patients early in treatment. A pooled analysis of short-term placebo-controlled studies of antidepressants (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and other medications) showed that in children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 18 to 24) with depression (MMDS) and other psychiatric disorders, compared with placebo, Antidepressants increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and suicidal behavior (suicidal ideation, behavior). In short-term clinical trials, antidepressant use did not show an increased risk of suicidal ideation or behavior compared with placebo in adults older than 24 years; Among adults age 65 and older, the risk of suicidal ideation and behavior decreased with antidepressant use.
