Vitamin B Complex (B1 + B6 + B12) Injection 3mL
Composition:
Each 3mL ampoule contains:
- Vitamin B1 (Thiamine Hydrochloride) - 100 mg
- Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) - 50 mg
- Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) - 1 mg
- Excipients: Sodium chloride, Water for injection
Description:
Vitamin B Complex Injection is a combination of essential B vitamins that play a crucial role in energy metabolism, nerve function, and red blood cell formation. It is used to prevent and treat vitamin B deficiencies caused by inadequate diet, malabsorption, or certain medical conditions.
Indications:
- Vitamin B deficiencies due to malnutrition, alcoholism, or gastrointestinal disorders
- Peripheral neuropathy and neuritis (e.g., diabetic neuropathy)
- Megaloblastic anemia due to Vitamin B12 deficiency
- Supportive treatment in neurological disorders (e.g., sciatica, Bell's palsy)
- Fatigue, general weakness, and stress-related conditions
Dosage & Administration:
Intramuscular (IM) Injection:
- Adults: 1 ampoule (3mL) once daily or as prescribed
- Severe deficiency: 1 ampoule (3mL) every other day or as recommended
- Maintenance dose: 1 ampoule (3mL) 1-2 times per week
Intravenous (IV) Use:
- May be diluted with normal saline or dextrose and administered slowly under medical supervision
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to any B vitamins
- Severe renal impairment (caution advised in Vitamin B6 overdose)
- Leber's disease (Vitamin B12 may worsen optic nerve atrophy)
Precautions:
- High doses of Vitamin B6 (>200 mg/day) for prolonged periods may cause neuropathy
- Monitor blood levels in long-term use to avoid toxicity
- Caution in pregnancy and lactation (use under medical supervision)
Adverse Reactions:
- Common: Pain at the injection site, mild nausea, dizziness
- Rare: Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling), hypotension
- High-dose or prolonged use of Vitamin B6: Sensory neuropathy (tingling, numbness)
Drug Interactions:
- Levodopa (for Parkinson's disease): Vitamin B6 reduces its effectiveness
- Alcohol & certain antibiotics: May impair Vitamin B absorption
- Chloramphenicol: May interfere with the hematologic response of Vitamin B12 therapy
Overdose & Management:
- Symptoms: Nerve toxicity, imbalance, sensory disturbances (from excessive B6)
- Treatment: Discontinue use, provide symptomatic management
