Lincomycin Hydrochloride Injection 600mg/2mL (300 mg/mL)
Composition:
Each 2mL ampoule contains:
- Lincomycin Hydrochloride - 600 mg (300 mg/mL)
- Excipients: Sodium chloride, Water for injection
Description:
Lincomycin Hydrochloride is a lincosamide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It is effective against Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and some anaerobic bacteria.
Indications:
Lincomycin Injection is indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, including:
- Respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, bronchitis)
- Skin and soft tissue infections (cellulitis, abscesses)
- Bone and joint infections (osteomyelitis, septic arthritis)
- Severe bacterial infections when penicillins are not suitable
Dosage & Administration:
Intramuscular (IM) Injection:
- Adults: 600 mg every 12-24 hours
- Children (>1 month): 10 mg/kg every 12-24 hours
Intravenous (IV) Infusion:
- Adults: 600 mg-1 g IV every 8-12 hours
- Children (>1 month): 10-20 mg/kg IV every 8-12 hours
- Severe infections: Up to 8 g/day in divided doses
Administration:
- IV infusion: Dilute with at least 100 mL of compatible fluid and administer over 60 minutes
- Do not administer IV push (risk of cardiac toxicity)
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Lincomycin or Clindamycin
- History of colitis or Clostridium difficile infection
Precautions:
- Use with caution in patients with:
- Renal or hepatic impairment (dose adjustment needed)
- Gastrointestinal diseases (risk of colitis)
Adverse Reactions:
- Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash
- Serious: Pseudomembranous colitis, liver dysfunction, anaphylaxis
Drug Interactions:
- Neuromuscular blockers: Increased muscle relaxant effect
- Macrolides (e.g., Erythromycin): Antagonistic effect
- Warfarin: Increased risk of bleeding
Overdose & Management:
- Symptoms: Severe diarrhea, liver toxicity
- Treatment: Supportive care, IV fluids, discontinue if colitis occurs
Storage Conditions:
- Store below 25°C
- Protect from light
- Do not freeze
