Sodium Bicarbonate 8.4% Injection is an injection used to reduce the amount of acid in the blood which can be diagnosed from headaches, weakness, tiredness, fast breathing, and abnormal heart rates from a doctor. High levels of acid in the blood can be caused by diabetes, hepatitis, heart, and kidney conditions. The injection can also be used a tool to reduce the amount of acid in the urine as it speeds up the removal of certain substances from the body in the case of some types of poisoning.
Sodium Bicarbonate 8.4% Injections are sterile and are given to patients through an intravenous route via a central line injected into a vein and it is not recommended for intramuscular injection. The dosage is 10ml, but it can be dependent on the doctor's directions and instructions as the injection can be administered to adult patients and young children as well.
The injection is only available by prescriptions from doctors, and it should only be administered by a doctor or nurse. Read directions of usage on the box for further information. The solution can be identified as a clear, colourless solution in a clear glass 10ml vial sealed with a grey rubber stopper.
