Cefitaxime Sodium for Injection

Character:
 This product is white to yellowish white crystalline powder.

Indications:
It is suitable for pneumonia and other lower respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection, meningitis, septicemia, abdominal infection, pelvic infection, skin soft tissue infection, reproductive tract infection, bone and joint infection caused by sensitive bacteria. Cefotaxime can be used as the drug of choice in children with meningitis.

Adverse reaction:
The incidence of adverse reactions is low, about 3% ~ 5%.
(1) There are rash and drug fever, phlebitis, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc.
(2) Mild elevation of alkaline phosphatase or serum aminotransferase, temporary elevation of blood urea nitrogen and creatinine.
(3) leukopenia, acidocytosis or thrombocytopenia were rare.
(4) Occasional headache, numbness, difficulty breathing, and facial flushing.
(5) Very few patients may develop mucosal candidiasis.

Pharmacology and toxicology
Cefotaxime is a third-generation cephalosporin with a wide antibacterial spectrum and strong activity against Gram-negative enterobacteriaceae bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella and Salmonella. It also has good effects on Proteus and Citrobacter. Enterobacter cloacae and Enterobacter aerogenes were resistant to this product. This product has no antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and alcaligenes. Cefotaxime has a powerful effect on influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae (including β-lactamase producing strains), Neisseria meningitidis and Moraxella kataxella. The antibacterial activity of this product against Staphylococcus aureus is poor, the activity against hemolytic streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and other gram-positive bacteria is strong, enterococcus is resistant to this product.
