Linezolid Tablets 600mg
Each tablet contains Linezolid 600mg.
Linezolid Tablets 600mg are an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic used to treat infections caused by gram-positive bacteria, including resistant strains such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE). It is effective in treating severe infections where other antibiotics may fail.
Linezolid is indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible gram-positive bacteria:
Nosocomial pneumonia
Community-acquired pneumonia
Skin and soft tissue infections (e.g., cellulitis, diabetic foot infections)
Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE) infections
Complicated infections (e.g., bacteremia, osteomyelitis)
Adults and adolescents (≥12 years): 600mg every 12 hours, orally or intravenously.
Duration of treatment: Typically 10-14 days, depending on the infection type and severity.
Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water. Can be taken with or without food.
Common side effects may include:
Gastrointestinal disturbances (e.g., nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)
Headache or dizziness
Myelosuppression (e.g., anemia, thrombocytopenia) with prolonged use
Serious side effects (e.g., lactic acidosis, serotonin syndrome, optic neuropathy) are rare but require immediate medical attention.
Hypersensitivity to linezolid or any component of the formulation.
Concurrent use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 2 weeks of discontinuation.

Consult a doctor before use if you have a history of bone marrow suppression, serotonin syndrome, or seizures.
Monitor blood counts regularly during prolonged use (beyond 2 weeks).
Avoid foods high in tyramine (e.g., aged cheese, cured meats) to reduce the risk of hypertensive crisis.
Serotonergic drugs (e.g., SSRIs, SNRIs, TCAs): May increase the risk of serotonin syndrome.
Adrenergic agents (e.g., pseudoephedrine): May potentiate pressor effects.
MAO inhibitors: Contraindicated due to the risk of hypertensive crisis.
