Indications:
For vomiting caused by radiation therapy and cytotoxic chemotherapy

Adverse reactions:
May have headache, abdominal discomfort, constipation, dry mouth, rash, occasionally bronchial asthma or allergic reactions, transient asymptomatic increase in transaminase. The above reaction is mild and does not require special treatment. Occasionally dyskinesia, seizures. Rare chest pain, arrhythmia, hypotension and bradycardia.

Pharmacological action:
This product is a powerful, highly selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist with strong antiemetic effect. Chemotherapy drugs and radiation therapy can cause the small intestine to release 5-HT, which activates the afferent branches of the vagus nerve via the 5-HT3 receptor, triggering the vomiting reflex. This product blocks the triggering of this reflex. Activation of the afferent branch of the vagus nerve also causes the release of 5-HT in the Postrema region at the base of the fourth ventricle, which is enhanced by central mechanisms. The antiemetic effect of this product on nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy and radiotherapy is achieved by antagonizing the 5-HT receptors of peripheral and central nerve neurons. The mechanism of postoperative nausea and vomiting is unclear, but it may be similar to the common pathway of cytotoxic nausea and vomiting. It can also inhibit opioid-induced nausea, and the mechanism of action is not clear. Due to its highly selective action, it does not have the side effects of other antiemetic drugs, such as extrapyramidal reactions, excessive sedation, etc.
