Composition:

Each tablet contains:

• Valsartan 80mg

Description:

Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that helps lower high blood pressure (hypertension) by relaxing blood vessels, improving blood flow, and reducing cardiovascular risks.

Indications:

Valsartan Dispersible Tablets are indicated for:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults and children ≥6 years
• Heart failure (NYHA Class II-IV) in patients intolerant to ACE inhibitors
• Post-myocardial infarction (to improve survival and reduce complications)

Dosage & Administration:

Adults:

• Hypertension: 80mg to 160mg once daily (max: 320mg/day)
• Heart failure: 40mg twice daily, titrated up to 160mg twice daily
• Post-MI: 20mg twice daily, increased as tolerated to 160mg twice daily

Pediatric Use (≥6 years):

• Starting dose: 40mg once daily for children 6-17 years
• Maximum dose: Based on weight (up to 160mg/day)

Administration:

• Dissolve in water before administration
• Can be taken with or without food
• Do not crush or chew

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to Valsartan or excipients
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding (Category D - fetal toxicity risk)
• Severe liver disease
• Concomitant use with aliskiren in diabetic patients

Precautions:

• Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels
• Risk of hypotension in volume-depleted patients
• Hyperkalemia may occur with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics
• Renal impairment: Use with caution in severe kidney disease

Adverse Reactions:

• Common: Dizziness, fatigue, headache, hypotension
• Gastrointestinal: Nausea, abdominal pain
• Cardiovascular: Palpitations, orthostatic hypotension
• Serious (rare): Angioedema, severe renal dysfunction

Drug Interactions:

• NSAIDs: May reduce antihypertensive effect and worsen kidney function
• Potassium-sparing diuretics: Risk of hyperkalemia
• Lithium: Increased risk of lithium toxicity
• Other antihypertensives: May enhance blood pressure-lowering effects
