Description:
Vecuronium Bromide is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent used as an adjunct to general anesthesia to facilitate endotracheal intubation and provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation.
Indications:
Vecuronium Bromide for Injection is indicated for:
- Endotracheal intubation
- Skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery
- Facilitation of mechanical ventilation in ICU settings
Dosage & Administration:
Intravenous (IV) Use Only
Administered as an IV bolus or continuous infusion under the supervision of an experienced anesthesiologist.
Adult Dosage:
- Intubation dose: 0.08-0.1 mg/kg IV
- Maintenance dose: 0.01-0.02 mg/kg IV as needed
- Continuous infusion: 1-2 mcg/kg/min IV
Pediatric Dosage (Infants & Children >7 weeks):
- Initial dose: 0.08-0.1 mg/kg IV
- Maintenance dose: 0.01-0.02 mg/kg IV as needed
Reconstitution & Administration:
- Reconstitute 4mg vial with 5mL sterile water (final concentration: 1mg/mL)
- Administer slowly over 30-60 seconds
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Vecuronium or other neuromuscular blockers
Precautions:
- Use with caution in patients with myasthenia gravis or neuromuscular diseases
- Monitor respiratory function closely
- Prolonged effect in hepatic or renal impairment
Adverse Reactions:
- Common: Hypotension, flushing
- Serious: Respiratory depression, prolonged paralysis, anaphylaxis
Drug Interactions:
- Enhanced effect with anesthetics (e.g., halothane, isoflurane)
- Reduced effect with chronic use of anticonvulsants
Overdose & Management:
- Symptoms: Severe respiratory depression, apnea
- Treatment: Administer Sugammadex or Neostigmine + Atropine
Storage Conditions:
- Store below 25°C, protect from light
- Use reconstituted solution within 24 hours (if refrigerated at 2-8°C)
