Each 5mL ampoule contains:
- Lidocaine Hydrochloride - 50 mg (10 mg/mL)
- Excipients: Sodium chloride, Water for injection
Description:
Lidocaine Hydrochloride is a local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic agent that stabilizes neuronal membranes by inhibiting sodium ion influx, thereby preventing nerve impulse conduction.
Indications:
Lidocaine Injection is indicated for:
- Local and regional anesthesia (infiltration, nerve block, epidural anesthesia)
- Treatment of ventricular arrhythmias (including ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation)
Dosage & Administration:
Local Anesthesia:
- Infiltration anesthesia: 0.5%-1% solution (max 300 mg total dose)
- Nerve block: 1%-2% solution (max 300 mg total dose)
- Epidural anesthesia: 1%-2% solution (max 300 mg total dose)
Antiarrhythmic Use (IV Infusion):
- Loading dose: 1-1.5 mg/kg IV bolus over 2 minutes
- Maintenance infusion: 1-4 mg/min IV continuous infusion
- Maximum dose: 3 mg/kg per hour
Administration:
- For local anesthesia: Administer slowly via infiltration or nerve block
- For IV use (arrhythmia): Must be diluted and given via slow IV push or infusion
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Lidocaine or amide-type local anesthetics
- Severe heart block without pacemaker
- Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome
Precautions:
- Use with caution in:
- Hepatic impairment (metabolism reduced)
- Elderly patients (increased sensitivity)
- Patients with bradycardia or hypotension
Adverse Reactions:
- Common: Dizziness, nausea, numbness, tingling
- Serious: Seizures, respiratory depression, hypotension, cardiac arrest (high doses)
Drug Interactions:
- Cimetidine: Increased Lidocaine levels (risk of toxicity)
- Amiodarone: Increased risk of cardiac effects
- Phenytoin: May reduce Lidocaine efficacy
Overdose & Management:
- Symptoms: Drowsiness, tremors, seizures, respiratory arrest
- Treatment: Oxygen, IV fluids, lipid emulsion therapy in severe toxicity
Storage Conditions:
- Store below 25°C
- Protect from light
- Do not freeze
