This product is white to white, double sided raised oval film coating, each side has a notch.

Indications:

To treat moderate-to-severe Alzheimer's dementia.
 

Usage and dosage:

This product should be prescribed and directed by a physician experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's dementia. Treatment should only be initiated if the patient is accompanied by a caregiver who supervises the patient's medication on time. Dementia should be diagnosed in accordance with current diagnostic criteria and guidelines.

Adults: Maximum dose 20 mg daily. In order to reduce the occurrence of side effects, the maintenance dose should be gradually reached by increasing the dose of 5 mg per week during the first 3 weeks of treatment, as follows: The doses for the first week of treatment were 5 mg daily (half tablet, taken in the morning), 10 mg daily for the second week (half tablet twice daily), 15 mg daily for the third week (one tablet in the morning, half tablet in the afternoon), and the recommended maintenance dose of 20 mg daily (one tablet twice daily) after the beginning of the fourth week.

Memantine tablets can be taken on an empty stomach or with food.

Matters needing attention:

Patients with impaired renal function: For patients with mild impaired renal function (serum creatinine level not exceeding 130 μmol/l), dose adjustment is not required. In patients with moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance 40-60 ml/min/1.73 m2), the dose should be reduced to 10 mg daily. There is no data on the use of this product in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 9 ml/min/1.73 m2), so its use is not recommended in such patients.

Patients with liver impairment: There is no data on the use of memantine in patients with liver impairment.

Patients with epilepsy, a history of convulsions, or a predisposition to epilepsy should be cautious when using memantine.

Patients with elevated urine pH should be closely monitored when taking this product.

There is limited data on memantine use in patients with myocardial infarction, decompensated congestive heart failure, and uncontrolled hypertension, so these patients should be closely monitored when taking Memantine.

Moderate-to-severe Alzheimer's disease often results in impaired driving and mechanical ability, and this product may alter the patient's reflexes, so patients taking this product should be especially careful when driving or operating machinery.
