Character:
This product is colorless to slightly yellow clear liquid.

Indications:
It is suitable for relieving wheezing symptoms of bronchial asthma, chronic asthmatic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It can also be used for cardiac insufficiency and cardiogenic asthma.

Adverse reactions:
The toxicity of theophylline often appears in the serum concentration of 15 ~ 20μg/ml, especially at the beginning of treatment, the early common nausea, vomiting, irritability, insomnia, etc., when the serum concentration exceeds 20μg/ml, tachycardia, arrhythmia can occur, the serum theophylline exceeds 40μg/ml, fever, water loss, convulsion and other symptoms can occur. Severe cases can even cause respiratory and cardiac arrest and death.

Pharmacology and toxicology:
This product is a compound salt of theophylline and ethylenediamine, its pharmacological effect mainly comes from theophylline, ethylenediamine enhances its water solubility. This product has a direct relaxation effect on respiratory smooth muscle. The mechanism of action is relatively complex, and it was previously thought that by inhibiting phosphodiesterase, the intracellular cAMP content was increased. Recent studies have suggested that theophylline's bronchodilating effect is partly due to the release of endogenous epinephrine and norepinephrine. In addition, theophylline is a purine receptor blocker, which can counter the contractile effects of adenine on the respiratory tract. Theophylline can enhance the diaphragm contraction force, especially when the diaphragm contraction is weak, so it is beneficial to improve respiratory function. The product also has weak relaxation of coronary artery, peripheral vascular and bile duct smooth muscle. It has a slight increase in contractility and a slight diuretic effect.
