Composition:

Description:

Bisacodyl is a stimulant laxative that promotes bowel movements by directly stimulating the colonic muscles and increasing water accumulation in the intestines. It is commonly used for relief of occasional constipation and for bowel cleansing before medical procedures such as colonoscopy.

Indications:

• Relief of occasional constipation
• Preoperative or pre-procedural bowel cleansing

Dosage & Administration:

For Rectal Use Only.

Adults & Children (≥12 years):

• 1 suppository (10mg) inserted rectally once daily

Children (6-12 years):

• ½ suppository (5mg) inserted rectally once daily

Administration:

• Wash hands before and after use
• Unwrap the suppository and insert gently into the rectum
• Remain lying down for a few minutes
• Bowel movement usually occurs within 15-60 minutes

Contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to Bisacodyl or excipients
• Intestinal obstruction or perforation
• Severe dehydration
• Acute abdominal conditions (e.g., appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease)

Warnings & Precautions:

• Not for long-term use (may cause dependence)
• Avoid use in patients with undiagnosed abdominal pain
• May cause rectal irritation in sensitive individuals
• Use with caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women (consult a doctor first)

Adverse Reactions:

• Common: Mild abdominal discomfort, rectal irritation
• Rare: Electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, cramping
