Indications:
Antiviral drug. For viral pneumonia and bronchitis caused by respiratory syncytial virus.

Adverse reactions:
Common adverse reactions include anemia, fatigue, etc., which disappear immediately after stopping the drug. Less common adverse reactions include fatigue, headache, insomnia, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, etc., and can cause red blood cells, white blood cells and hemoglobin decline.

Pharmacology and toxicology:
Pharmacological broad-spectrum antiviral drugs. In vitro, it can inhibit the growth of respiratory syncytial virus, influenza virus, hepatitis A virus, adenovirus and other viruses, the mechanism of which is not fully understood. This product does not change virus adsorption, invasion and hulling, nor does it induce interferon production. After entering virus-infected cells, the drug is rapidly phosphorylated, and its products act as competitive inhibitors of viral synthetase, inhibiting inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, influenza virus RNA polymerase and mRNA guanosine transferase, thereby causing the reduction of intracellular guanosine triphosphate, impelling viral RNA and protein synthesis, and inhibiting viral replication and transmission. It may also have immune and neutralizing antibody effects on respiratory syncytial virus.
Toxicological animal experiments found that this product can induce benign tumors of breast, pancreas, pituitary and adrenal glands, but the carcinogenicity of human beings is not confirmed. In animals such as hamsters, drugs can cause deformities of the head, palate, eyes, jaw, bone and gastrointestinal tract, and reduce offspring survival. However, experiments in primates have not found any effects of drugs on fetuses. Cardiac injury occurred in mice, rats, and monkeys given oral ribavirin at doses of 30, 36, and 120mg/kg, respectively, or for more than 4 weeks (equivalent to human doses: 4.8, 12.3, and 111.4mg/kg in children weighing 5kg, or 2.5, 5.1, and 40mg/kg in adults weighing 60kg).
