• Oxaliplatin for Injection (50 mg) is a platinum-based chemotherapy drug commonly used to treat certain types of cancer, especially colorectal cancer.

Indications:
 

Oxaliplatin is typically used in combination with other chemotherapy agents, such as fluorouracil (5-FU) and leucovorin (often in regimens like FOLFOX), to treat:

• Metastatic Colorectal Cancer: For advanced cases.
• Adjuvant Treatment of Stage III Colon Cancer: After complete resection of the primary tumor.

Administration:

• Infusion: Administered via intravenous infusion, usually over 2 hours.
• Avoid Mixing: Do not mix with saline solutions, as chloride ions can destabilize oxaliplatin. Use only dextrose solutions for dilution.
• Line Flush: Flush the infusion line with dextrose 5% both before and after administration to avoid contamination.

Precautions:

• Peripheral Neuropathy Management: Cold exposure should be minimized to prevent worsening neuropathy. Patients should avoid cold drinks, cold weather, and cold objects.
