Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride Tablets 400mg
Each tablet contains Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride equivalent to 400mg of Moxifloxacin.
Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride Tablets 400mg belong to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics. They are broad-spectrum antibiotics effective against a wide range of gram-positive, gram-negative, and atypical bacteria. Moxifloxacin is commonly used to treat respiratory, skin, and intra-abdominal infections.
Moxifloxacin is indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible bacteria:
Acute bacterial sinusitis
Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
Community-acquired pneumonia
Uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections
Complicated intra-abdominal infections (in combination with other antibiotics)
Adults: 400mg once daily, orally or intravenously.
Duration of treatment:
Sinusitis: 10 days
Bronchitis: 5 days
Pneumonia: 7-14 days
Skin infections: 7 days
Intra-abdominal infections: 5-14 days
Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water. Can be taken with or without food.
Common side effects may include:
Gastrointestinal disturbances (e.g., nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain)
Dizziness or headache
Mild rash or itching
Serious side effects (e.g., tendon rupture, QT prolongation, severe allergic reactions) are rare but require immediate medical attention.
Hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin, other quinolones, or any component of the formulation.
History of tendon disorders associated with quinolone use.
Patients with known QT prolongation or on medications that prolong the QT interval.
Consult a doctor before use if you have a history of kidney disease, liver disease, or seizures.
Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or UV light, as moxifloxacin may increase photosensitivity.
Discontinue use and consult a doctor if you experience tendon pain, swelling, or inflammation.
Antacids, iron, or calcium supplements: May reduce absorption of moxifloxacin. Take at least 4 hours apart.
QT-prolonging drugs (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol): May increase the risk of arrhythmias.
Warfarin: May increase the risk of bleeding. Monitor INR closely.
Store in a cool, dry place (below 25°C), away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
