Indications:
This product can be used for the following infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to cefuroxime:
1. Respiratory infection: Respiratory infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae (including ampicillin resistant bacteria), Klebsiella, Staphylococcus aureus (penicillinase-producing bacteria and non-penicillinase-producing bacteria), Streptococcus pyogenes and Escherichia coli, such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis co-infection, bacterial pneumonia, lung abscess and postoperative lung infection.
2, ENT infection: otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis.
3. Urinary tract infection: urinary tract infection caused by E. coli and Klebsiella bacteria, such as acute and chronic pyelonephritis, cystitis and asymptomatic bacteriuria.
4. Skin and soft tissue infections: skin and soft tissue infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus (penicillinase producing bacteria and non-penicillinase producing bacteria), Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella and Enterobacteria, such as cellulitis, erysipelas, peritonitis and trauma infections.
5. Sepsis: sepsis caused by Staphylococcus aureus (penicillinase producing bacteria and non-penicillinase producing bacteria), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae (ampicillin resistant bacteria) and Klebsiella bacteria.
6. Meningitis: meningitis caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae (including ampicillin resistant bacteria), Neisseria meningitidis and Staphylococcus aureus (penicillinase-producing bacteria and non-penicillinase-producing bacteria).

Pharmacology and toxicology
Pharmacological action
This product is the second generation of cephalosporin antibiotics, and its mechanism of action is to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell walls by binding bacterial proteins. Cefuroxime has a wide range of antibacterial activities against pathogenic bacteria and is stable against many β-lactamases, especially plasmid mediated enzymes commonly found in Enterobacteriaceae.
In vitro trials and in clinical infection treatment, cefuroxime has demonstrated antibacterial activity against most of the following bacteria:
Aerobic gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus (including β-lactamase producing bacteria), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes.
Aerobic gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, influenzae (including β-lactamase producing bacteria), Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Moraxella catarrha (including β-lactamase producing bacteria), Neisseria gonorrhoea (including β-lactamase producing bacteria).
In vitro tests showed that most strains of Enterococcus faecalis, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium difficile and Bacteroides fragilis were resistant to cefuroxime.
Toxicological study
Genotoxicity: Although no lifetime animal studies have been conducted to evaluate the carcinogenic potential of this product, no mutagenicity has been found in micronucleus and bacterial tests.
Reproductive toxicity: The dose of this product reached 1000mg/kg/ day, which had no significant effect on the fertility of the animals. Mice and rats were given doses up to 32000mg/kg/ day, and no damage to fetal development was observed. However, the animal-human correlation has not been supported by clinical studies.
