Nicardipine Hydrochloride Injection 10mg

Description:
Nicardipine Hydrochloride is a calcium channel blocker (CCB) of the dihydropyridine class, primarily used for blood pressure control by relaxing vascular smooth muscle and reducing systemic vascular resistance.
Indications:
Nicardipine Injection is indicated for:
- Hypertensive emergencies
- Perioperative hypertension management
- Acute stroke-related blood pressure control
- Postoperative blood pressure management
Dosage & Administration:
Intravenous Administration Only
- Initial infusion rate: 5 mg/hour, titrated up every 15 minutes by 2.5 mg/hour as needed
- Maximum infusion rate: 15 mg/hour
- Maintenance dose: 3-5 mg/hour once blood pressure is controlled
- Duration: Short-term use, transition to oral antihypertensive as soon as possible
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Nicardipine or dihydropyridine CCBs
- Severe aortic stenosis (may worsen hemodynamics)
- Severe hypotension or cardiogenic shock
- Acute decompensated heart failure
Precautions:
- Monitor blood pressure continuously during infusion
- Use cautiously in renal and hepatic impairment
- Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent rebound hypertension
- Caution in patients with ischemic heart disease (may cause reflex tachycardia)
Adverse Reactions:
- Common: Hypotension, flushing, dizziness, headache, nausea
- Serious: Reflex tachycardia, arrhythmia, pulmonary edema, hepatotoxicity
Drug Interactions:
- Enhanced hypotensive effect with other antihypertensives (e.g. ACE inhibitors)
- Avoid concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, ritonavir)
- May interact with anesthetic agents in perioperative settings
Overdose & Management:
- Symptoms: Severe hypotension, bradycardia, syncope, dizziness
- Treatment: Stop infusion, administer IV fluids, vasopressors if needed, and monitor ECG
Storage Conditions:
- Store at 20-25°C, protect from light
- Do not freeze
