Paracetamol Injection 600mg/5mL (120 mg/mL)
Composition:
Each 5mL ampoule contains:
- Paracetamol - 600 mg (120 mg/mL)
- Excipients: Mannitol, Sodium citrate, Acetic acid, Water for injection
Description:
Paracetamol (also known as Acetaminophen) is a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic. It acts centrally to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, providing effective relief from pain and fever.
Indications:
Paracetamol Injection is indicated for:
- Treatment of mild to moderate pain
- Fever reduction
- Postoperative pain management
- Pain relief when oral administration is not possible
Dosage & Administration:
Adults & Adolescents (≥50 kg):
- Recommended dose: 1,000 mg (5mL) IV every 4-6 hours as needed
- Max dose: 4,000 mg/day
Children & Adolescents (<50 kg):
- 15 mg/kg IV every 6 hours
- Max daily dose: 60 mg/kg/day
Administration:
- IV infusion over 15 minutes
- Use a separate IV line
- Do not mix with other medications
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or excipients
- Severe hepatic impairment or active liver disease
- Severe renal failure (CrCl <30 mL/min)
Precautions:
- Hepatotoxicity risk: Avoid overdose; do not exceed 4 g/day
- Alcohol consumption: Increases liver toxicity risk
- Use with caution in:
- Chronic liver disease
- Severe malnutrition
- Dehydration
Adverse Reactions:
- Common: Nausea, vomiting, headache, injection site pain
- Rare but serious: Liver toxicity, hypotension, allergic reactions
Drug Interactions:
- Warfarin & anticoagulants: May increase bleeding risk
- Alcohol & hepatotoxic drugs: Increased liver damage risk
- Enzyme-inducing drugs (e.g., Rifampin, Phenytoin): May reduce efficacy
Overdose & Management:
- Symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, hepatotoxicity, jaundice
- Treatment: N-acetylcysteine (NAC) antidote within 8 hours

- Store below 30°C
- Protect from light
- Do not refrigerate or freeze
