Cefixime for Oral Suspension
Each 5mL of reconstituted suspension contains Cefixime 100mg or 200mg.
Cefixime for Oral Suspension is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. The oral suspension form is particularly suitable for pediatric patients or those who have difficulty swallowing tablets.
Cefixime is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:
Respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)
Urinary tract infections (e.g., cystitis, pyelonephritis)
Ear, nose, and throat infections (e.g., otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis)
Uncomplicated gonorrhea
Adults and children ≥12 years or ≥50kg body weight:
Mild to moderate infections: 200mg every 12 hours or 400mg once daily.
Uncomplicated gonorrhea: 400mg as a single dose.
Children 6 months to 12 years or <50kg body weight:
Mild to moderate infections: 8mg/kg body weight per day, divided into 1-2 doses.

Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin): May increase the risk of bleeding. Monitor INR closely.
Aminoglycosides or diuretics: May increase the risk of kidney toxicity.
Probenecid: May increase cefixime blood levels.
