Indications:

Adverse reaction:
No adverse reactions associated with this product have been observed even after long-term heavy use. No adverse reactions were reported by changing medication habits or increasing dosage. In individuals who are particularly sensitive to this product, it can occasionally cause circadian rhythm disturbance, and taking hypnotic drugs before going to bed can reduce this symptom. Pharmacology and toxicology:
Adenosylmethionine is a physiologically active molecule present in all tissues and body fluids of the human body. It is involved in important biochemical reactions in the body as A methyl donor (transmethylation) and as a precursor to physiological sulfhydryl compounds (such as cysteine, taurine, glutathione and coenzyme A). In the liver, the fluidity of the liver cell membrane is regulated by methylation of plasma membrane phospholipids, and the synthesis of vulcanized products during detoxification is promoted by transthioylation. As long as the bioavailability of adenosylmethionine in the liver is within the normal range, these responses help prevent intrahepatic cholestasis.
It has been found that liver adenosylmethionine synthesis is significantly reduced in cirrhosis due to a significant decrease (-50%) in the activity of adenosylmethionine synthase (which catalyzes the conversion of the essential amino acid methionine to adenosylmethionine). This metabolic disorder reduces the conversion of methionine to adenosylmethionine, thus impinging the normal physiological process of preventing cholestasis. Results The plasma clearance of methionine and the availability of its metabolites, especially cysteine, glutathione and taurine, were decreased in patients with cirrhosis. Moreover, this metabolic disorder also causes hypermethioninemia, which increases the risk of hepatic encephalopathy. It has been shown that the accumulation of methionine in the body can lead to the increase of the concentration of its degradation products (such as mercaptan, methylmercaptan) in the blood, and these degradation products play an important role in the pathogenesis of hepatic encephalopathy. Since adenosylmethionine increases the synthesis of sulfhydryl compounds but does not increase the concentration of methionine in the blood circulation, supplementation of adenosylmethionine in patients with cirrhosis restores endogenous levels of an essential compound whose bioavailability is reduced in liver disease.
Intrahepatic cholestasis
Intrahepatic cholestasis can be a complication of both acute and chronic liver disease, and this complication can occur regardless of their cause. This is due to reduced bile secretion by liver cells, so substances that should be removed with bile accumulate in the blood, especially bilirubin, bile salts, and various enzymes. Intrahepatic cholestasis is characterized by jaundice and/or pruritus, and biochemical changes are characterized by bile components in the blood (mainly total and bound bilirubin, bile salts) and bile duct enzymes (elevated alkaline phosphatase and γ-glutamyltransferase). Supplementation of adenosylmethionine can clear the metabolic block caused by decreased activity of adenosylmethionine synthase and restore the physiological mechanism of bile secretion. In fact, various experimental models have demonstrated that the anticholestasis activity of adenosylmethionine is attributable to:
