Character:
This product is a colorless clear liquid.

Indications:
1. Treat metabolic acidosis. To treat mild to moderate metabolic acidosis, oral administration is appropriate. Severe metabolic acidosis should be given intravenically, such as severe kidney disease, circulatory failure, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, cardiopulmonary bypass, severe primary lactic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, etc.
2. Alkalize urine. It is used to prevent uric acid kidney stones, reduce renal toxicity of sulfonamides, and prevent hemoglobin deposition in renal tubules after acute hemolysis.
3. As an acid-making drug, it treats the symptoms caused by excessive stomach acid.
4. Intravenous infusion has a non-specific therapeutic effect on some drug poisoning, such as barbiturates, salicylic acids and methanol poisoning. However, this product is prohibited for gastric lavage when swallowing strong acid poisoning, because this product reacts with strong acid to produce a large amount of carbon dioxide, resulting in acute gastric dilation or even gastric rupture.

Matters needing attention
1. Interference with diagnosis: It has significant impact on the results of gastric acid secretion test or blood and urine pH determination.
2. Use with caution in the following cases:
(1) oliguria or anuria, because it can increase sodium load;
(2) sodium retention with edema, such as cirrhosis, congestive heart failure, renal insufficiency, pregnancy hypertension syndrome;
(3) Essential hypertension, due to the increase of sodium load may aggravate the condition.
3. Intravenous medication is not used in the following cases:
(1) Metabolic or respiratory alkalosis;
(2) A large amount of chlorine is lost due to vomiting or continuous gastrointestinal negative pressure suction, and metabolic alkalosis is very likely to occur;
(3) When hypocalcemia, alkalosis caused by this product can aggravate the manifestations of hypocalcemia.

Pharmacology and toxicology: 
1. To treat metabolic acidosis, this product increases the concentration of carbonate in plasma and neutralizes hydrogen ions, thus correcting acidosis;
2. Alkaline urine, due to the increase in the concentration of bicarbonate in the urine, the pH value increases, so that uric acid, sulfonamides and hemoglobin are not easy to form crystallization or aggregation in the urine;
3. Acid production, oral administration can quickly neutralize or buffer gastric acid, without directly affecting gastric acid secretion. Therefore, the pH in the stomach increases rapidly to relieve the symptoms caused by high stomach acid.
