Indications:
Ampicillin sodium and cloxacillin sodium for injection are indicated for respiratory tract infection, gastrointestinal tract infection, urinary tract infection, soft tissue infection, endocarditis, meningitis, septicemia caused by sensitive bacteria. It can also be used for mixed infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes or pneumococcus and penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus.

Adverse reactions:
1. The adverse reactions of this product are similar to penicillin, and allergic reactions are more common. The most common reaction was a rash, usually occurring 5 days after medication, with urticaria or maculopapular rash. Interstitial nephritis may also occur; Anaphylactic shock is rare, once it occurs, it must be rescued on the spot.
2. Granulocyte and thrombocytopenia are occasionally seen in patients treated with ampicillin sodium.
3. Antibiotic-associated enteritis is rare.
4. Elevated serum transaminase and cholecystatic jaundice were found in a few patients.
5. Increased intracranial pressure may occur after the application of ampicillin sodium in infants, manifested as pre-halogen eminence.

Pharmacology and toxicology:
Ampicillin sodium in this product is broad spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin, and cloxacillin sodium is acid - and enzyme-resistant semi-synthetic penicillin. This product has the characteristics of ampicillin sodium and cloxacillin sodium, that is, it has a broad spectrum killing effect on gram-positive and negative bacteria, and is effective against penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The combination of the two can strengthen each other and make up for the shortcomings of their separate applications.
Ampicillin has strong antibacterial effect on hemolytic streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and nonpenicillinase staphylococcus, which is similar to or inferior to penicillin. Ampicillin also has good antibacterial action against Streptococcus viridis, and its action against Enterococcus and Listeria is better than that of penicillin. Ampicillin sodium has antibacterial activity against Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Bacillus anthracis, actinomyces, Haemophilus influenzae, Bacillus bordetella pertussis, Neisseria and other anaerobic bacteria except Bacteroides fragile. Some Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella and shigella bacteria are sensitive to this product. Not effective against methicillin-resistant staphylococcus. Ampicillin acts as a bactericidal agent by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls.
Cloxacillin has the characteristics of acid resistance and penicillinase resistance, has antibacterial activity against Gram-positive coccus and Neisseria, and has stronger antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus (including Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase negative staphylococcus) enzyme producing strains than oxacillin, but has weaker antibacterial action against penicillin-sensitive staphylococcus and various streptococcus than penicillin, and has no effect on methicillin-resistant staphylococcus.
