Indications:
This product is mainly used for the treatment of anaerobic bacteria infection.

Matters needing attention
(1) Interference with diagnosis: metabolites of this product can make urine dark red.
(2) For patients with original liver disease, the dose should be reduced. Discontinue the drug if dyskinesia or other central nervous system symptoms occur. A white blood cell count should be done before repeating a course of treatment. In patients with anaerobic bacteria infection combined with renal failure, the dosing interval should be extended from 8 hours to 12 hours.
(3) This product can inhibit alcohol metabolism, should abstain from alcohol during the drug, after drinking may appear abdominal pain, vomiting, headache and other symptoms.
(4) Do not use in case of cloudy liquid, foreign matter, broken bottle, loose rolling mouth, etc. It is forbidden to use it again if it cannot be used up.

Adverse reactions:
Adverse reactions occurred in 15-30% of cases, and gastrointestinal reactions were the most common, including nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and abdominal cramps, which generally did not affect treatment. Nervous system symptoms include headache, vertigo, occasional paresthesia, limb numbness, ataxia, multiple neuritis, etc. Large doses can cause convulsions. In a small number of cases, urticaria, flushing, pruritus, cystitis, dysuria, metallic taste in the mouth and leukopenia were reversible and recovered spontaneously after withdrawal.

Pharmacology and toxicology:
Metronidazole has a strong antibacterial effect on most anaerobic bacteria, but has no effect on aerobic bacteria and facultative anaerobic bacteria. The antibacterial spectrum includes Bacteroides fragile and other bacteroides, Clostridium difficile, Clostridium aerogenes, Eubacterium, Venescens, peptococcus and peptostreptococcus, etc., and actinomyces, Lactobacillus and propionibacterium are resistant to this product. The bactericidal concentration was slightly higher than the bactericidal concentration. This product can also inhibit the REDOX reaction of Amoeba and break the nitrogen chain of amoeba. In vitro tests have shown that when the drug concentration is 1-2mg/L, amoeba histolytica can undergo morphological changes in 6-20 hours, and all are killed within 24 hours. When the drug concentration is 0.2mg/L, amoeba histolytica can be killed within 72 hours. This product has a strong killing effect on trichomonas, its mechanism is not clear. It is carcinogenic to some animals.
